For more than two years we have invested a lot of effort, resources and the enormous work of our team, to complete a restoration project of hundreds meters of the perimetral wall and main sluicegate on Trocadero Island, Protected Zone in the Natural Park of the Bay of Cádiz and Asset of Cultural Interest., based on the collaboration agreement signed in January of 2016 with the Cupimar, Ltd (Cultivos Piscícolas Marinos S.A). En este proyecto colaboraron el Área de Medio Ambiente de la Diputación de Cádiz, Red Eléctrica, la Andalucía Bird Society y numerosos voluntarios que trabajaron sin descanso durante dos años.

However, after more than 2 years of hard work, we were forced to abandon our efforts due to the lack of commitment shown by the various public administrations involved.
The island played an important part in relations with the Indies when Cádiz was the Trade headquarters 300 years ago, and during the French siege of Cádiz at the beginning of the XIX Century and the latter battle of Trocadero. But our efforts weren’t only about recuperating a key piece of natural and historical heritage. They were also about including the local inhabitants of the Bay of Cádiz in the management and protection of the salt marsh as an investment for the future.
